Dar es Salaam. Village Community Banks (Vicoba) are complaining over high interest rates charged by commercial banks on loans, saying the trend was thwarting investment efforts in the country. Commercial banks in the country charge up to 25 per cent. Speaking on Tuesday, the vice chairman for Tanzania Informal Microfinance Association of Practitioners vice chairman Abubakar Masoud said high borrowing costs were deterring investment in the country

For three days, the experts will be discussing how to bridge gaps in communication, intervention and implementation of strategies aimed at controlling diseases like rift valley fever, brucellosis, rabies, plague and anthrax

Morogoro. Three farmers from Kolero Ward in Morogoro District were, allegedly, killed by pastoralists in Kolero Ward in Morogoro District after they seized cattle that were eating their crops. The deceased were identified as Richard Edward, Riziki Juma and Antoni Matei. Speaking to The Citizen Kolero Ward Counselor Eligius Mbena said on September 28 more than 140 cattle were grazed into farms at Kidodi village and completely destroyed all the crops in the field

Following challenges of family planning in Arumeru District in Arusha Region, the district authorities have come up with initiatives aimed at making women aware of its importance to health and family development. Arusha District Council, Reproductive and Child Health Care Coordinator Butolwa Bujiku told The Citizen that, they had several family planning clinics in the district, but Maasai women were reluctant to practice family planning due to the fact that it was new to their culture and it was believed to cause sterility and cancer

Better land use could reduce carbon dioxide 37 percent, enough to hold global warming below two degrees Celsius by 2030, as called for by the 2015 Paris Agreement, according to a report in the peer-reviewed Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
